Ingredients
  

  • Heavy Cream: 1 cup
  • Unsalted Butter: 2 tablespoons
  • All-Purpose Flour: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper: 1/8 teaspoon
  • Optional Garlic minced: 1 clove
  • Optional Shallots finely chopped: 1 tablespoon
  • Optional Grated Parmesan Cheese: 1/4 cup
  • Optional Fresh Herbs chopped: 1 teaspoon

Instructions
 

Step 1: Melt the Butter

  • Start by placing a saucepan over medium heat. Add the unsalted butter and let it melt completely. The butter should become a light golden color as it melts and creats a nice base for your cream sauce. Make sure the butter doesn’t burn by stirring gently with a whisk.

Step 2: Add the Flour

  • Once the butter has melted then slowly sprinkle the all-purpose flour into the saucepan. Mix the mixture constantly with the whisk to create a smooth and thick paste known as a roux. This helps thicken your sauce and gives it a creamy consistency.

Step 3: Pour in the Heavy Cream

  • Slowly pour the heavy cream into the saucepan while continuing to whisk. This helps blend the cream with the roux for a smooth sauce. Whisk continuously to avoid any lumps from forming in the sauce.

Step 4: Season with Salt and Pepper

  • Add salt and black pepper to the mix. You can change the seasoning to suit your taste. Stir the sauce well to make sure the seasoning is mixed in evenly.

Step 5: Enhance with Optional Ingredients

  • To make your sauce tastier, add any of the optional ingredients. If you want a more flavorful sauce, mix in minced garlic and finely chopped shallots. You can also add grated Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs for extra flavor. Allows everything cook together on low heat.

Step 6: Simmer and Thicken

  • Keep the sauce simmering gently on low heat and stirs sometimes. Let it cook until it gets as thick as you like, which usually takes a some time. As it thickens, it will become smooth and creamy, great for your meals.
