Equipment

  • Large skillet (cast iron preferred)
  • Tongs
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks about 8-10 oz each
  • 12 large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Season the Steak

  • Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Sprinkle both sides with salt, pepper, and a pinch of smoked paprika if you like a smoky kick. Set them aside while you prep the shrimp.

Step 2: Prep the Shrimp

  • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry. Toss them with a little salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil. This keeps them juicy when they hit the pan.

Step 3: Sear the Steak

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in your skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove them to a plate and cover with foil to rest.

Step 4: Cook the Shrimp

  • In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter and the shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes, flipping once, until they turn pink and opaque. Set them aside with the steaks.

Step 5: Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce

  • Lower the heat to medium and melt the remaining butter in the skillet. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan, whisking until smooth.

Step 6: Simmer the Sauce

  • Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. It’ll thicken slightly and pick up the flavors from the pan. Taste and adjust with salt and pepper if needed.

Step 7: Combine Everything

  • Return the steaks and shrimp to the skillet. Spoon the creamy garlic sauce over them and let everything warm through for 1-2 minutes. Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Keep an eye on the steak’s doneness with a thermometer for best results, and don’t overcook the shrimp—they turn pink fast. Use fresh garlic for the sauce’s full flavor, and let the steak rest to stay juicy.
